We decided to make some quick changes to the program for the Billings, Montana performance, resulting in some new challenges. Thinking back on it now, a simple truth is so often ignored, that it is important for each of us to try difficult things that stretch and grow us. Even though we weren’t sure what would happen, the program was one of the best yet and the additions contributed so much to the program.
After the program, a parent approached me and took my hand with the words, “May the Lord bless you and keep you. Keep shining. Well done good and faithful servant.” These words affirmed for me that what our team has been doing, travelling and speaking, is what we have been called to do, and that it is a work the Lord has blessed.
The best part of my evening was when a mother and her young child came over to me and she told me that he wanted to be a bagpiper so he would run around the parking lot to exercise his lungs so he would be able to play the pipes when he grew up. I shook his hand and he shyly introduced himself. I told him my name was Tim, and that, no matter how difficult it might be, he must never give up learning the bagpipes. He looked me in the eyes and said, “I won’t.”
And it is that answer that gives me encouragement for the future and for everything that the team will accomplish. And so we each continue our own journeys with hope in our hearts.
